The Malaysian Rotax Max Challenge has been around for about half a decade now with Malaysia being very much at the center of attention for Rotax Racers worldwide because the Grand Finals have been held in Malaysia (Langkawi) on more than one occcasion. The Rotax Max Challenge is a one make series with only the Rotax engines used in the races, except for the cadet class in which Comer engines are used. Engine regulations require the engine to be unmodified and sealed at all times during a race meeting. This year is no different to previous years with regards to the championship prize in that the DD2, Senior, and Junior champions will represent Malaysia in the Rotax Grand Finals. The categories in the championship for 2006 are Cadet (under 12yrs old), Veteran (45+), Masters(over 32yrs), Junior (13-16yrs), Senior (above 15yrs), and DD2 (above 15). As mentioned earlier the Cadet category uses a Comer engine. Masters, Seniors, and Veterans use the Rotax MAX FR125, Juniors use the Junior Rotax Max FR125, and DD2 used the 2 gear Rotax DD2 engine. For those that are confused, the main category would still be considered the Rotax Max Senior category, as it generally attracts more participants than DD2. Tyre regulations stipulate that the only permitted tyres for the Rotax categories are the MOJO Type D1 for dry and MOJO Type W1 for wet. The Cadet category run Bridgestone YEQ in the dry and Bridgestone YGR. round4, 23 September 2006 Elite, Subang Jaya
