This basic design has been proven since the 1970’ and there have been some refinements over the years. This design has some characteristics, such as fixed valving, and usually costs less to manufacture than a Monotube or Adjustable type shock absorber. The limitations of twin-tube shocks become apparent when they are used over very bumpy roads. In this case, the rapid motion of the piston can cause the oil to overheat and to foam, reducing the shock absorber's ability to control wheel motion. The result is a ride that becomes increasingly sloppy, especially when traveling over a washboard surface. Heavy-duty twin-tube shock absorbers are usually stronger, with more robust piston shafts and mounting points, and they may use oils that are more resistant to foaming, but ultimately they still have the same limitations. Mono-tube High Pressure Gas DesignKayaba high performance shock absorber with monotube This shock absorber is a high pressure, mono tube design. These are a newer design and the Monotube design allows them to operate at cooler temperatures. Monotube are under high pressure, from around 200 psi, to as high as 360 psi. The hydraulic oil and Nitrogen gas are in separate chambers, separated by a floating piston. This allows the shock/strut to function without any aeration or foaming. Monotube shocks usually have a stiff valving, and cost more to manufacture. They are also able to withstand more punishment, and offer higher dampening ability. Most racing shocks, including Formula One, are of a Monotube design. Accurate engineering is needed when manufacturing a Monotube, and many have a very specific valving. This is years of racing technology adapted for street and off-road use. Conclusion = Nak sedap guna MONOTUBE GAS. ;D

okie...absorber apa yang amat tahan lasak...
maksud tahan lasak apabila membantai conar pada kelajuan 150++kmh dah tahan lasak apabila melalui jalan yang berlubang2...kt mesia nih mmg bnyk jalan yang berlobang2...tkt absorber tak tahan lama je...
so...ada komen??

Short Stroke nie maksudnya dia pendek sket dari standard punya.. Short stroke nie bila ko pakai, dia buat keter ko lowered sket, tak banyak. Short-stroke nie jugak amat sesuai untuk digunakan dgn lowered spring.

okie...absorber apa yang amat tahan lasak... maksud tahan lasak apabila membantai conar pada kelajuan 150++kmh dah tahan lasak apabila melalui jalan yang berlubang2...kt mesia nih mmg bnyk jalan yang berlobang2...tkt absorber tak tahan lama je... so...ada komen?? kat sini ada 2 ko nak: 1) nak corner sedap bila bawa 150kmh2) nak bawa sedap kat jalan malaysia yg jalan banyak beralun and berlubangko tak boleh kejar dua² luke.. ko kena pilih samada nak comfort or performance.. kalo ko jenis no 1, ini lebih kepada performance setup. so comfort ko kena sacrifice. Ko tak boleh gain dua² skali. kalo ko jenis no 2, better go for comfort setup. Absorber sebenarnya no 2 penting dlm setup suspension ko. Main dia coil spring ko. coil spring ko yg kasi kereta ko jadi performance or comfort.absorber nie sebagai sokongan kepada kerja2 coil spring ko tu. lagi keras coil spring ko, absorber apa2 pun ko pakai, mmg tak comfort jadinya. p/s : cam spring RSR bowling, aku tgk dah takda gap antara coil dia. biler dah takda gap, ko rasa coil spring dia leh kembang or kecut tak biler langgar lubang or jalan beralun. so kalo guna absorber apa pun, sure comfort disaster punya kalo buat ride kat jalan malaysia nie. ;D

Aftermarket replacements for Shock Absorber:
For comfort: Use original parts. Most manufacturers tune their cars for comfort unless it's a sport car.
Reasonable comfort & roadholding: Oil+gas shocks e.g. Monroe Sensatrac, Monroe Reflex & APM Perfromax
Reasonable comfort & better roadholding: Adjustable soft-hard shocks e,g, Konis
Less comfort & better roadholding: All gas shocks e.g. KYB & APM gas shocks.
Lowered look & better roadholding(?) & little comfort: Lowered gas shocks + sport springs like APM R-tech, KYB RS and any varity of lowering springs.
For all out roading and control: Adjustable absorbers (Coilovers) e.g. HWL, Tein & custom made shocks e.g Titan
However, from my own experience, these are some ideas.
1. Eibach sport springs gives a very good balance between comfort & handling, especially when partnered with the right absorbers. They have been proven to work extremely well with regular Konis (which are premium shocks, that are adjustable for hardness).
2. APM new twin-tube coilovers (the ones with the yellow springs) are pretty good. They are of the oil+gas type, servicable, reasonable price & the springs can be replaced with heavy-duty ones. Cheap coilovers & pretty good.
3. APM R-tech + APM lowering springs is not bad as a budget setup for that "lowering look" and reasonable roadholding. Real cheap compared to other setups!
By the way, do not use Monroe shocks (all kinds) with lowering springs. They are not lowering shock and will self-destruct very quickly.
